The 45-year-old woman was found lying injured on the floor after the driver failed to stop at the scene of the collision
Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver who left a dog walker lying unconscious on the pavement.
Detectives say they were called to Waterleat Road in Paignton, Devon, this morning after a 45-year-old woman was found on the ground.
She is thought to have been walking on the pavement with her dog when she was hit by a vehicle which then drove off.
Devon and Cornwall Police said she had been knocked unconscious, and was taken to Torbay Hospital.
Her injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
A police spokesman said: "Inquires have revealed that the female who had been walking on the pavement with her dog had been struck by a vehicle whose driver had failed to stop at the scene.
"The vehicle is believed to have been driving along Waterleat Road from the direction of Kings Ash Road when it mounted the pavement and struck the female causing injury prior to driving off."
